[The tap, tap, of heavy boot heels echo on the hard floor.
The footsteps feel large, but in-between them, the sound of multiple smaller steps can be heard.]

J.J: Thank you for your hard work. Are you just here to inspect the organization's facility today?

R.R: What? Oh, is it you again?

Don't just come out of the dark like that. It's not funny.

J.J: Ohoho. Then shall we decorate the room with brilliant lights and adorn it with curtains in order to announce your glorious return?

R.R: ...

J.J: Haahaha! It was a joke, only a joke.

Please, feel free to laugh.

R.R: When I returned, I was in quite a good mood, but I can feel my discomfort index rising rapidly, now that I'm here in this room.

[Luggage is set down, with a thud, and then the snap, snap, of light switches being turned on follows.]

J.J: Ah, yes, now that you mention it...

Today was the day you were visiting the orphanage, wasn't it? I hope the children were well.

R.R: You don't need to worry.

I don't particularly want to hear your attempts at playing a fool, either.

Get to the point.

J.J: Ah, yes, then, I shall.

Yes, it's quite a good thing to have the young ones be full of life...

[After the luggage, there's a sound of someone large sitting down, sinking into the fabric of the seat. Then the flick of a lighter, and the crackling of a cigarette.]

J.J: But even they've been dragged into those goals of yours, haven't they?

R.R:...

[A long exhale, as someone scratches their head intensely.]

R.R: Are you the type of person who doesn't even try to clean their room because 'it'll get dirty in the end, anyway'? Do you not want to eat because you'll get hungry again in the end?

J.J: Hmmmmm.

R.R: Ah...I guess this asshole really wouldn't care about answering this, would he...

J.J: Oh no, no! I understand perfectly! Yes, I definitely do!

Attaching 'in the end' to your sentence implies that you know the outcome of something beforehand. But despite that, that's
simply not enough of a reason to crush the present with your own idleness.

R.R: You're going far too over-the top with this. It's suspicious.

Hm. I'm not like you. I want to take the matters at hand now seriously.

And I don't care if I'm laughed at as a hypocrite for it.

J.J: Oh really? What if I laughed at you?

R.R: I'd probably send you flying.

J.J: Hahahahaha!

[A light sound of clapping.]

R.R: Well then, hurry up and tell me what you've found.

J.J: Right, yes...I'm sure you already know this, but the second dove has been discovered.

R.R: It seems so.

J.J: And all the wings except for myself are moving to shuffle the cards without informing their respective sages.

R.R: Hmm...Has...the clairvoyance managed to read anything?

J.J: I don't know. But in any case, the sixth dove is currently pretty much sealed away. Even if they do manage
to do something, they'll have to be careful and only use means they know are reliable.

R.R: So that means that if we have any party crashers, they're likely to be those bastards from the brain's entertainment?

J.J: Yes. After all, they do everything according to their own whims. And if I had to say, this time it's getting into their territory specifically.
So it'll be a bit difficult for us to make an excuse for getting involved ourselves.

R.R: But, you know...We can't overlook this ourselves, either. If the balance is broken, then there's a possibility of something big happening. Just like it did three years ago.

J.J: Exactly.

R.R: ...

[A 'ahhh' sort of sigh, then a different deep breath. Like someone exchanging all the smoke in their lungs with fresh air.
The clock ticks on and on, as the two of them think.]

R.R: By the way, about the hiding place of those things. Are you sure that information was reliable?

J.J: Yes. It's a ninety percent chance that they're...there and there. Unless they find out that we know and move them, that is.
No matter what happens...changing the owner of an artifact isn't something that can be done carelessly, after all.

R.R: Hmmmmmmmmmm.

[A cigarette is tapped on the edge of a glass ashtray. It may or may not have made a sound. A clump of ash joins the rest of the ash at the bottom of the tray.]

R.R: You must not interfere with this incident. We will observe it, and let them solve it.

J.J: Will that be alright?

R.R: Right now, the most important thing is to prepare to collect the artifacts. We must do it quickly, while the sixth's functions
have been halted. Tell me about any new developments with them, as well.

J.J: Yes, I'll do as you say....And so that means...

R.R: Exactly. It's time to proceed with the other plan.

[The sound of precious metals around someone's neck, rubbing together.]

R.R: Soon, we'll stop pretending to be allies.

[A loud sound effect, the type you'd often hear in a game.]

Shinano: Teyaaaah! You're finished! Deus Ex Machina!

Kotetsu: No waaaaaaay! Amazing! You're so strong!

Shinano: Yaaaaay! My cute little Light's ultimate is like an 'I win' button!

Kotetsu: Amazing! 5 star characters really do just melt bosses!

[The sounds of clapping from the living room, and the sounds of dinner being made from the other side.]

Atou: Two grown adults coming over for an overnight stay and they just play gacha...Well, I guess they can do what they'd like.

Otowa: Gacha?

Atou: Yeah, you know, that one...AteKise.

Otowa: Oh, that one.

[Ingredients are going into the pot. Daikon, carrots, and other root vegetables are hitting the bottom of the pot, with a satisfying sound. In-between the sounds of the stove fan, you can hear a game's background music from a phone.]

Shinano: By the way, Kotetsu, how much of the main story have you read?

Kotetsu: Well, you know, I...I've read about halfway through Episode 4! You told me about Marine and I finally got to meet him, Ei!

Shinano: You're up to Marine! Wow!

[The mustard cabbage is being cut at the root. It looks like a flower inside.]

Otowa: Those two seem full of energy.

Atou: Well, they're close in age, and they're always talking with each other online. So I guess they really would get more excited when they can see each other and play together offline.

Otowa: That depends on the person, doesn't it? Some people want to take their time playing it on their own, others want to get friends together and play something, and other people prefer watching play videos.

Atou: Right, LPers are pretty popular lately, aren't they...

[They can hear Kotetsu's 'Ah', and then the alert sound for a text message.]

Kotetsu: That was Mr. Kachiya. He said he was done with buying things from the clinic.

Shinano: Oh, so does that mean he'll be here in time for dinner?

Kotetsu: Seems like it!

[The utensils are done being used, and are being put into the stainless steel sink.]

Otowa: Haruki, could you wash this towel for me?

Atou: Right.

Otowa: And after, can I ask you to help make the salad?

Atou: Okay.

[The sound of house slippers walking for about 2 or 3 seconds, then the sound of a vegetable drawer in a refrigerator being opened.]

Otowa: Deus ex Machina...?

Atou: Huh? You mean that finishing blow attack they were just talking about?

Otowa: You know, part of that incident 3 years ago can be called a deus ex machina.

Atou: Oh? Really?

Otowa: Right now, no one knows what really happened except the people who were there. And there hasn't been too much information about it that's gotten out to the public afterwards. It's a little unnatural.

Atou: Well...Sometimes I'm not really satisfied with that either, but...if the truth of that really did get out into the world, I'm not sure what I'd do.

[The sounds of both of them preparing food can be heard. The music from the cellphone has stopped, replaced by the sound of the TV.]

Atou: Anyway, I hear the words 'deus ex machina' from time to time, but what do they really mean?

Otowa: Deus ex machina...It means god from the machine. It was originally a theater term. I won't explain the whole thing to you here, but in short...It's a technique in stories or plays where 'God' will show up midway through to solve their problem.

Atou: What?

Otowa: It's not a character, and it's not the ending to the story, either. It's more like...God, or something like it with absolute power, can make the story end in and of itself....That kind of thing, basically.

Atou: Ahh, I see. It seems like it'd be difficult to end a story like that, since people might have...mixed opinions on it.

[The two of them lower their voices, speaking in whispers now.]

Atou: ...So you're saying that there are people who think of what happened to that group as something like that?

Otowa: Yes, that's it.

Atou: God, huh...

[The sound of the vegetables in the salad being mixed together.]

Atou: ...They called Hatsutori the child of God. The origin. They called him absolute, but...

Otowa: Yeah.

Atou: Actually, right now, I'm the one who's...

Otowa: That's right. You are.

[The sound of water, boiling in the pot.]

Atou: But sometimes, I wonder.

[The sounds of laughing voices, on a variety show in the background.]

Atou: Was that really an Origin?

[The voices slowly grow further away.]

Atou: In the end, was he really a grapevine?

[They stop, for a second.]

Atou: And doesn't that mean that the soil that the grapevine grew in is still there?

[All the sound effects that were in the background return.]

Otowa: ...If something...happened again, what would you do?

Atou: Well, if it didn't have anything to do with me, I'd probably just...try to ignore it. I'm like this, after all-- the type who just wants to protect himself.

Otowa: But what if it did have to do with you?

Atou: If that time ever comes, I guess I'll think about it then.

Otowa: I see.

[The doorbell rings.]

Shinano: Ah! Mr. Kachiya is here!

[radio]

Chironex: ...ron! Aaron!! Answer me!!

[sound of emergency radio]

Chironex: It was a surprise attack! Multiple people were injured! Head back, Aaron!

Aaron: This is Aaron. Roger that, heading back now. Are you alright, Chironex?

Chironex: You don't need to worry about me. It's just a scratch. We probably got the jump on them. Yasen dealt with them, so it wasn't a big problem, but JJ's salary's going to be--

(Suddenly, the atmosphere warps into something choking.)

Chironex: ...Wait, Ens isn't here!!

Aaron: Ens?

Chironex: Ens was the one who saved me a while back!

Aaron: Oh, the one who always sleeps in that loft.

[The sound of the radio being dropped to the floor echoes. The noise soon stops, replaced with the sound of running footsteps.]

Chironex: Ens?! Ens! Where are you?! Ens...

[A sharp inhale, as if to cover up an exclamation of shock, then a name called, like a shriek.]

Chironex: Ens!!!

[There's a sound like someone is searching for something, or shaking something. All the while, a name is being called, but with no answer. The person calling begins to cough, and the call sounds more and more like a scream as it continues.]

Aaron: Chironex.

[The person's androgynous voice, previously heard over the radio, echoed through the place as if it was cutting it in half.]

Chironex: Aaron...Ens...Ens is....Ah...Aaah...

Aaron: I guess we couldn't save them. That's unfortunate.

[The sound of something being kicked, and hollowly rattling around on the ground, then the sound of cloth being grabbed onto, and breath.]

Chironex: What the fuck do you mean 'that's unfortunate'?! There has to be...there has to be something!! This is....!!

Aaron:...

Chironex: I promised Ens I'd let them meet my older bro and younger sister!! I...I'm....!

[The sound of a single footstep, then an explosion far away.]

Aaron: Hm. Well, there might still be something you can do.

Chironex: ...What?

Aaron: But, Chironex...

[The sounds of rustling get louder as the cloth continues to brush against the wood chips and rubble again and again.]

Aaron: That all depends on what you can offer me.

Story:

The Otowa Detective Agency is on lunch break in Shinjuku. It’s right before midsummer. Rui Otowa is the president’s son, the chief of the Nagoya branch, and a detective himself. Tomorrow he’s going to go to his parents’ house for a week to spend the holidays, but when he goes out with a coworker during his break, the summer sun wavers. He's attacked by unusual ‘distortions’ and dragged into a world different than the one he was in. Rosemaria. With these two cases, it seems like a fairytale-like adventure spanning two worlds has begun.

With the tower(the world) born from the people trapped in the portrait as its stage, and borrowing the name ‘mirage’, the curtains rise once more on the comedy.

Contents:

  • Deduction x Investigation x Attack=An exploration adventure game with RPG elements.

  • 8 chapters + a.

  • Endpoints (E/H/B/D/N/P-Vein) + a

  • Less horror/gore than the previous game (I can’t say there isn’t any at all)/Fantasy elements/Battles (No leveling system)/Heterosexual relationships and homosexual relationships both appear in this work

  • Estimated time to clear the game…About 30 hours(??) ?? hours to get all ends

  • RPG Maker MV/Win10 CPU i5 4GB memory or higher recommended.

Stage:

In 「細胞神曲-Cell of Mirage-Portrait of Eigha Iliner」the protagonists go to two worlds.

Tokyo.

In 2018, in Japan, in the second half of July. It’s around the time where students are going on their summer breaks, and adults are preparing for Obon. Otowa had planned to stay at his parents’ house while he was on a business trip, but got involved in an incident. He has his coworkers in Tokyo, Asada and Shinano. His subordinate and friend in Nagoya, Atou, is supporting him, he’s exchanging information with the patrons of a bar he often goes to, Oriental, and he’s investigating many different places. During that week that he’s taken as a vacation, he’s trying to solve the mystery of the mirage disappearance incident, and help his friends, himself included, completely escape from the other world. This is mainly where the investigation and deduction segments take place.

Rosemaria.

Otowa and his friends have found themselves in another world called ‘Rosemaria’. It’s a fantasy world based on the 2.5D anime, ‘Magical Boy Dita and the Divine Sword’...or at least it should be, but something’s a little bit off about it.

With the help of the hero trying to save this Rosemaria, Dita, he sees many different things and visits the towns that people live in, as well as ‘dungeons’. His other objective is to get all the people who have been dragged into Rosemaria back alive, and find out the truth behind this incident. This is where the battles and the RPGish part take place.

Watari: What about Kento?

Guide: KENTO went to see the other side of the bazaar. Will you go too, KEI?

Watari: Afterwards. I’d like to see the church ahead of us first.

(He looks beyond the expansive, lush, green hill)

Watari: I have a habit of taking pictures of that church and the garden in the back whenever I come to this village.

But it really is unfortunate that I couldn’t greet the pastor himself this time.

Guide: Well, he is getting on in years.

He was tending the garden the day I came to get permission to visit the grounds, though.

Watari: I see.

(The young man is wearing glasses. He has a guitar case on his back, and a high-quality camera hanging around his neck.)

Guide: I know this isn’t the first time you’ve come here, but just to make sure…

Watari: No photography of anything past the back garden, right?

Guide: Yes, exactly.

Guide: Oh, by the way, you know there are days when photography isn’t allowed on the church grounds at all, right?

Watari: Yep, when I first came here and asked for permission to photograph, he told me that~ I could do what I wanted, but—

(The young man partly closes his eyes, and lets out a short laugh.)

Watari: He said there were days when I might end up taking a picture of an angel.

Guide: Yes, but it’s only around mid-July.

Watari: Wish I could meet that angel.

Guide: No, you can’t! Everyone’s always told me to not try to do that, ever since I was young.

(The guide, who lives there, and the young Japanese man walk towards the church together.)

Watari: This place—-

(The young man stops to look back at the bustling village.)

Watari: I quit my job, left everything behind, went on a journey with just my camera and guitar, and this is the place I ended up.

(The wind blows.)

Watari: Everyone was so kind…Even though I was a stranger, they took good care of me.

Guide: Well, you know, this village was originally built by strangers.

Watari: So it seems.

Guide: I was born in this village…It’s been many generations since it was founded, and it might have changed a lot, but the tradition of welcoming and taking care of strangers still remains.

Watari: This really is a wonderful place. That’s why I’d like to film here one day.

Guide: Film a music video?

Watari: Yeah.

(It gets noisier behind them. A young man, holding food he’s bought at the bazaar, waves at the two of them as they walk towards the church.)

Sayo: Keeeeeei! These sweets are soooooooo tasty!

Watari: Yeah, yeah. Don’t walk while you’re eating.

Guide: Hahaha.

Guide: What kind of song are you writing?

Watari: This time?

Guide: Yeah, what kind of song are you writing, using this place as your inspiration?

Watari: It’s—-

(He looks down.)

Watari: It’s pretty much a cheering song.

Guide: Oh, that sounds nice. What is it for?

Watari: Ah, well, it’s the theme song for a certain movie.

Guide: That’s amazing? What kind of movie?

Watari: Well…

Watari: It’s about farewells.

Guide: Farewells…?

Watari: Ah, well—- more like a story about saying goodbye.

That movie is the world’s way of saying a final farewell to us. I’m sure of it.

Guide: ??? Are you talking about some kind of bad end where the world is destroyed or something?

Watari: No.

(He opens his eyes and slowly starts to set his camera up.)

Watari: It’s a farewell. But I think the script is a comedy. In other words, that it’ll have a happy ending.

Guide:...??

Watari: Haha. I’ll bring it when it comes out on Bluray and DVD. We can watch it together. Our song should be playing at the end.

Guide: I’m looking forward to it. We can watch it with KENTO and the other staff.

Watari: Yeah.

(The click of a camera shutter can be heard clearly.)

Watari: Kento said he wasn’t satisfied with the phrase after the final chorus yet, though.

Guide: Huh? Really? I thought the song was done already.

Watari: Well, it is, mostly…But he keeps rewriting that one part.

(Watari’s brows are furrowed, but he smiles regardless.)

Watari: It’d be nice if we could find something that worked on this journey of ours.

Guide: Hopefully you find it while you still have time to make changes.

Watari: Honestly.

(As the two of them stand on the stone stairway, a fresh breeze brushes them. And Watari speaks, as if he’s letting his words float away into that breeze.)

Watari: “We were trying to crush our own sorrow with hope.” Was that it?

Takagi: It’s been a long time, Miwa. Have you been well?

Miwa: Yes, I have! Oh, and it seems like your leg has gotten a lot better, Takagi-san!

Takagi. Yeah, thankfully. I was really causing trouble for everyone for a while. Please, take a seat.

Miwa: Thank you.

Takagi: Do you want your usual order of black tea?

Miwa: Yeah!

(The sound of someone sitting down on the sofa. Footsteps going towards the kitchen, and someone’s movements as they put the kettle on.)

Takagi:…I know I’m repeating myself, but I really am sorry.

Miwa: Hmm?

Takagi: That I couldn’t be part of MBDS with you till the end.

Miwa: Ah, yeah…Well, it’s true, I really was disappointed. But there wasn’t anything else that could be done. And I couldn’t put it off any longer, no matter what.

So, honestly, I’m the selfish one for asking for someone to fill in for you.

I should really be the one apologizing here. I’m sorry.

Takagi: But since the person you asked was Shiyo-san, I knew my role was in good hands.

You’re almost done with shooting for the series, right? Hang in there.

Miwa: I will!

(The sound of Takagi coming back with a drink and placing it on the desk. They silently thank each other, and Takagi sits on the sofa.)

Takagi: Hey, are you really going to quit?

Miwa:...Well, ah, yes, but…

Takagi: Have you told anyone else?

Miwa: Mm, well…My manager and Kado-san, and you, of course.

And Toma-san, and…Azusa-chan, and Ezumi-san know, I think.

And the person in charge at A/Z/MA, and the president.

Takagi: I see…

(A pause.)

Takagi: Is there some reason you're making this decision? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, of course.

Miwa: …

(Miwa, staring at his own reflection in the teacup.)

Miwa: I wanted to put an end to this in the best way I could.

Takagi: Oh, you mean your acting career.

Is this one of those “I want to stop doing this when I’m still in my prime” sort of things?

Miwa: My acting career? It’s more like…me, playing the role of Dita.

Takagi: Oh?

Miwa: I love playing that role from the bottom of my heart.

But that’s exactly why I’d like to bring it to an end while I’m still at my best, and then afterwards, come to my own end.

Takagi: You’re being so dramatic, people are going to think you’re talking about something else, you know.

Miwa: Haha.

(Takagi takes a deep breath.)

Takagi: But you won’t change your mind no matter who says what to you, will you?

Miwa: Yeah. I have to do it now, or else.

No— I should say, I can’t put it off any longer.

Takagi:...

Miwa: …

Takagi: I won’t dig too deep into it.

But tell me if there’s anything I can do.

I know this is kind of a cliche thing to say, but…You’re not alone. Remember that.

Miwa: I know! Thank you, Big Bro!

Takagi: Ahahaha. I guess you kind of are my little brother, in a way.

(Takagi’s cellphone rings.)

Takagi: Ah, it’s Toma. Take it easy, okay?

Miwa: I will!

Ah, ask him about bringing Azusa-chan along with us to Nagoya to eat food cooked in miso next time, okay~?

Takagi: I did already. —-Yes, hello? Ah, yeah.

(Takagi exits the room, talking cheerfully.)

Miwa:...

(Miwa stares out the window, then wraps his arms around himself like the cold is bothering him.)

Miwa:...Just a little bit more. Just until everyone can see the movie…

That’s…all I need. So please—-please, somehow, let me hold out until then….

[Here are the CoM profiles from the official twitter, plus translations of the official comments on the tweets.]

Rui Otowa:

Male, 32 y/o, 180cm tall (5’9), detective.

President of the Otowa Detective Agency, and the oldest son of the previous president, as well as the Nagoya branch chief.

Calm and collected, good at both academics and athletics, a man who objectively gives off a  “can-do-anything” sort of feeling.

On a business trip to Tokyo, he gets dragged into a mirage, and finds himself in another world called “Rosemaria.”

There, he meets a boy named Dita, who calls himself a “magical knight”. Because Dita helped him out, he decides to adventure with him.

While doing so, he ends up having to deal with many mysterious incidents…

“I see. Is that the whole problem? So then, what can I do to help you?”

“I understand…well, not really. I don’t really think I like this, but I’m not opposed to it, either.”

Dita Illner:

Male, 16 y/o, 159cm tall (5’2), magical boy knight

It’s the famous boy idol, Teita Miwa, in his appearance as the 2.5d hybrid anime protagonist of the movie “Magical Boy Dita and the Sacred Sword”...But, he himself seems to have no memory  of being “Miwa”, and instead, calls himself “Dita”, from the DTDS world Rosemaria.

He has a faded sword in his left hand, and a mysterious cat-like-creature following him around.

On more than one occasion, he ends up helping Otowa, who’s out of his element. Believing that the strange developments in Rosemaria are unmistakably the work of his older brother, the demon king Eigha, he asks Otowa and the others for help.

“Hey…hey! Please!! I’m working with you, so I want you to help us too!”

“...Something’s weird. I don’t like this. Me, Eigha…there’s something different about both of us.”

Godzylla

Male animal, about 50cm (1’6 feet) long, mysterious creature

I am Godzylla.

I am a perfectly normal cat.

In this world, cats have eight legs, wings, and can talk. That is a perfectly normal thing.

I am able to speak perfectly normally, but someow I keep adding cat puns when I meowlk.

It’s because I am a cat, you see.

And furthermore, my “length” does not mean that I can grow to that size, but that if I stretch myself out I can extend myself that far.

Cats are a liquid, you see.

Meow.

And Dita is my perfectly normal friend.

And furthermore, you may wonder how I am able to eat and talk despite having no mouth. It’s the mystery of being a 2D character, you see.

“Myaaaagh!! It’s so rude to say “Yikes” when you see something as pawsitively adorable as me!!”

“My puns are slipping?” Well, I can’t do anything about that. I’m faking it, you see. Meeow.”

Kado Orie

Male, 49 y/o, 183cm (6 feet tall), author & scriptwriter

Writes scripts under the name of Eri Himeno.

He mainly writes scripts for anime and tokusatsu programs aimed at children and young audiences, but…he’s the exact opposite of the type of person you’d imagine would be working on those projects.

That is, a hard to please, obstinate, stubborn middle-aged man.

He’s tall, which adds to the sense of pressure, has a high-handed way of talking, has a sharp glare, and is a workaholic fussy about the smallest things. So even though he’s hard to get close to, on the flipside of that, he also has a lot of fans that look up to him.

He’s known Teita through his job for a long time, and they have a big enough age difference to be parent and child, so he seems to be soft on Teita in his own way, but…

“Don’t expect people to be the same as what they write.”

“I don’t make things just to project myself into them!”

Seira Kurachi

Female, 20 y/o, 152cm tall (4’9), student at a women’s college

Lives by herself in Tokyo and attends a women’s college.

She’s petite and baby-faced, but confident. Both men and women find her dependable. But…When she left her hometown, she tried to reinvent (?) herself at university. As a result, if you bring up the things she did in high school or the career path she wanted to take back then, she’ll either lie about it or get mad at you.

She had thought she’d just been seeing strange mirages, until one day when she was dragged into another world.

She met Rui and Dita in the Sparkling Town, and begged them for help. Her hometown is in the Chubu region.

“I don’t know if this is a dream or not, but I wanna go home! I wanna go back to my normal life!!!”

“Why am I seeing something like this? It’s so frustrating…Feels like I might end up enjoying it, actually. That’s a scary thought.”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: “Did the people who’ve played CoE see her and think “Wait, is she…?” Well, you’re right. She’s that person’s daughter.”

Ito Yamori

Male, 25 y/o, 167cm tall (5’4), self-proclaimed graphic artist

A young man who’s a self-proclaimed game graphic artist.

He talks with a mix of Kansai and Tokai dialect.

He would come off as an easygoing kind of guy, but he says a lot of flippant and kind of negative things, so those tend to stand out instead.

He doesn’t seem to want to talk much about his private life.

One day, he got dragged into a mirage, and ended up in Rosemaria’s Black Magic town.

He welcomes what happened, and as a result is unhelpful to the rest of the party’s efforts to help solve the problem.

However, it seems like there’s someone he wants to say something to in reality, so he ends up reluctantly joining the rest of the party.

“What? You’re telling me we came to an amazing world like this and you’re doing something so boring?”

“I’ll tell ya this right now. The top three words I hate are “justice”, “hard work”, and “good will”.

Creator’s comment on the tweet: He’s the next party member after Otowa, Dita, Godzylla, and Seira. But he’s not really the type to shake hands.

Nei Sunagawa

Female, 24 y/o, 172cm tall (5’6), occupation unknown

She has a charming appearance, and an open-minded and calm attitude. She has an unusual manner of dress, and seems like the kind of beautiful woman you might see in a painting.

Rather than giving off an “adult” aura, she just seems mature. Her philosophical way of saying things make her seem older than how old (she says) she is.

She has a glaive, and excels at martial arts. Her memories are vague, but before she knew it she ended up in Rosemaria’s Golden Town, and found herself spending a lot of time there. It seems like the only thing she can really remember about the real world is a certain woman. She happens to be there when Otowa and the others encounter a crisis, and joins the party in order to support them.

“You must be worried. But you can leave this to me. I’ve been in this world for longer than you all have, after all.”

“I understand. It’s human foolishness to not be capable of doing that, is it not?”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: The fifth “party member”. It seems like her situation’s a bit difficult to explain in many ways.

Kento Sayo

Male, 22 y/o, 179cm (5’8), part of a band.

He’s a member of a 2-person band called A-Free-Tone that’s been a hot topic recently. He provides the vocals, as well as the guitar, and other things he feels like doing.

He’s kind of naive, hot-blooded and extremely enthusiastic, innocent, and does whatever he likes.

From time to time you can see glimpses of his more cultured side from the way he was raised.

His motto is “If there’s something you want to do, see it through to the end, even if it kills you.”

He finds himself in Rosemaria’s Machine Town, and afraid of how strange the world is, he runs away and finds himself meeting up with the rest of the party.

He’s worried about his partner Kei, the band, and his mother more than his own problems.

“Let’s heat this beat up! This is Free-Tone’s KENTO!!! What a miracle meeting you is!!”

“Your reasoning’s sound. But it’s got no heart in it!!”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: The sixth party member. He gets heated up in all sorts of ways. Namely, how worked-up he can get and how loud he can yell. The party’s full of people who have their own problems to deal with, so he might end up lifting the mood.

Totori (Totori-chan)

Self-proclaimed maiden, eternally 29 y/o, appears to be taller than 2 meters (6’5)

The strongest dandy, the prettiest of all, everyone’s reliable Totori-chan. (With the head of a hummingbird) (and the heart of a pure maiden) (and the body of a muscular human male bodybuilder) (and a determined look in the eyes) (and fashionable clothing)(and the scent of flowers wafting around) Totori gives her name only as “Totori”, but any further inquiries into her background are met with “A kunoichi must keep her secrets, you know!”.

She’s stayed in Rosemaria’s Elegant Town for a bit, but realized on her own that she was a human from the real world. She seems to know something about Otowa and the rest of the party, too.

“Noooo! I hate fighting like this! Stop or I'll choke you!"

“Did you finally realize it? Yes, that’s right. We all have everything we want here!”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: These are all the “party members” that will be traveling with Otowa and Dita. Next week, we’ll be introducing some of the important side characters.

Even though Totori looks like this, she’s a suuuuuper serious(?) character, so I hope you enjoy her.

Eigha Illner

Male, appears to be in his late twenties, about 190cm (6’2), demon lord

His existence had been hinted at ever since the “Magical Boy Dita and the Sacred Sword” series, and then in Season 4 and the movie, he appeared as the last boss, the demon lord who brought evil to Rosemaria. He’s also Dita’s older brother. He controls corruption called the Miasma, and uses it to corrode the people and living things of Rosemaria…Or at least that’s what happened in the DTDS movie. So then why is this Eigha attacking Dita and Otowa, saying “I have to eliminate you two in order to protect this world”?

“Take my hand. This world won't abandon you. Not like that one."

“Shut up…! If you get in my way, I’ll eliminate you! I won’t let anyone harm this ■■■!”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: Now, we’re introducing someone who’s the opposite of a party member. The Demon King, playing the role of a villain, and the person whose name appears in the game’s subtitle. Eigha Illner. He’s Dita’s older brother, but what could he be doing in this Rosemaria? And for what purpose?

Maasa Asada

Male, 42 y/o, 181cm (5’9), detective.

Vice-chief of the Tokyo branch of the Otowa Detective Agency.

One of the few people who can talk to Otowa as a superior. He’s a capable man who can keep the ragtag eccentrics at the agency (including the president) in check, but he can also pull ridiculous antics (including making himself the butt of the joke) with a completely straight face. He’s also strangely knowledgeable about niche subcultures. He is informed on the mysterious events that have led up to Otowa traveling between “Rosemaria” and reality, and provides important support on the reality side of things. He’s easygoing and has a cunning side to him.

“I’ll do my best to help you out with everything except the things that’ll give me more of these (gray) hairs on my head!”

“You’re blessed, young master Otowa. Remember that.”

“One day, the way you are will make you a demon to someone else.”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: His name showed up in CoE! And he’s finally making his appearance in CoM! In the group of weirdos that make up the agency, he really stands out as one of the biggest ones there! He can help out quite a bit. He’s also blunt enough sometimes to come off like he’s attacking someone.

Lin Orie

Male, 27 y/o, 180cm (5’9), online streamer

He does game LPs on a streaming site called CASTPort. He mainly gained popularity as a streamer from the videos he posts. His adoptive mother manages an izakaya called “Oriental” that the staff of the Otowa Detective Agency frequent. He helps out with the accounting and PR for it. He and his two beloved younger brothers are white Americans but don’t speak any English. He’s fluent in Japanese (and speaks a little Chinese). He appears as a bright and cheerful mega-nerd who’s good at talking to people, but he's also self-deprecating and gets nervous easily. He has a lot of connections online and is great at analysis, so his skills will be of great help in Otowa’s unusual situation.

“Well, it is true that I like cute boy characters, but that is NOT the same thing as being a fudanshi."

“I’ll do what I can to help. But if I know I can’t do anything, I’ll probably just run away at full speed.”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: He’s an older brother, a supporting character, and among those providing support on the reality side of things, he is an especially important interface.  His surname is “Orie”, but he (and his younger brothers) aren’t related to the family by blood. They’re different ethnicities, as well. Their izakaya is close to the Otowa Detective Agency, so it’s an important place in CoM.

Miara Kondou

Female, 26 y/o, 160cm (5’2), editor

She’s a young, elite editor who works for the Azuma Bookstore owned by the entertainment company A-Z/MA.

She has a way of letting people down gently, is pretty clumsy, and she says her room is extremely messy, so it might be hard to imagine it, but she’s extremely competent at her job.

With her supervisor suddenly gone missing, she was given the unenviable task of working with the scriptwriter, Kado Orie. Despite her misgivings about the disappearance, she didn’t call the police with her suspicions and instead went to K.K. Otowa Search System.

Soon enough, it turns out that her case is not just an isolated incident.

“Did you…did you just call me…Koala? No! It’s Miara!”

“Oh, I’m not particularly talented or anything! I just happened to get a good opportunity, is all.”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: She’s a girl who works at the Azuma Bookstore, which Kazaru Harada and Minoru Harada were once associated with. It’s owned by a large corporation that has a lot of entertainment projects associated with it. She gets worried when people misread her name as “Koala”. Is this encounter fate or simply coincidence?

Sueko Orie

Female, 52 y/o, 160cm tall (5’2), restaurant owner.

She runs “Oriental”, an izakaya on the first floor of a multi-tenant building, near the Tokyo branch of the Otowa Detective Agency.

All the employees of the agency are regular customers, and she knows them well. She’s the adoptive mother of Lin Orie and his two brothers, and Kado Orie’s older sister. Cheerful, friendly, and dauntless. Knows how to keep the three hard-to-deal-with brothers in line.

Sympathetic towards Otowa’s struggles, she and the brothers often help him out. Perhaps it’s because she can tell that the brothers are deeply involved with the recent incidents.

“Everyone, do you want something to drink? Maybe some oolong tea? Rui-kun, ginger ale for you, right? Hey, Lin, don’t just sit there! Help out!”

“He’s pulling people into things again, isn’t he…”

“About the protagonist of Mother’s series, ‘Tower’, Elliot…”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: The owner of an izakaya. Otowa and the others know her well. Atou, Shinano, and maybe even Reiji have been taken to it. Any sibling would be stumped dealing with her hard-to-please younger brother, but it seems she’s just worried about him. What could her intuition have told her?

Ryuu Nijou

Masculine, appears 25, 172 cm tall (5’6), ex-mercenary.

A man who was once working as a mercenary abroad. He has strangely colored hair, red eyes, and a black cloak around him. There are things that look like stitches on his face, and different parts of his face have slightly different skin colors and textures, almost as if he’s had different people’s faces sewn together. A right eye that always squints, a left eye that’s always wide open, and a mouth that always smiles…The twisted look of his face isn’t just because of the expression he’s making.

He’s been searching for the boy idol, Dita Miwa, and one dark night appears in front of him.

“Let’s return to Mother. There’s no need to worry. I’ll make sure I bring everything back with me.”

“I don’t particularly like doing cruel things.”

“I just don’t want to cut corners if there’s something I have to do. You’re the same, right? ■■■?”

Creator’s comment on the tweet: To all of you with the factor: DAWN, may we meet on the next dark night. Please wait for the interlude and the next part of the main story.
